The jacket is wonderful. I so love the pockets on the top sides, they have such finesse especially when I'm cycling in the woods during hunting trips. When it rains no water ever gets in which makes it worth every penny. I recommend it to anyone who wants to stand out. One thing that is missing though is a wider assortment of colors. I would really love this jacket in deep lilac. Also, I was also wondering if there would be a chance to make a tour of the atelier to look at the craftsmen at work.
This jacket is exceptional. The workmanship is of an excellent grade and the attention to detail phenomenal. I have had my Criterion now for month or so and have put it through its paces both on the bike and socially. Its fit is comfortable, the pockets are roomy and well placed, the reflective detail gives confidence, whilst riding in the dark and the water proofing qualities of the fabric are second to none - I even wear mine golfing such is the fit, availability to 'draw-in' the waist, and the 'quiet' material affords me the discretion I need around the greens. The cinnamon colour is a real head turner - it perfectly matches my cognac Tricker brogues. I was in the high-end Orvis retailer at the weekend and several people asked me where I had bought the jacket - expect to see fly fishermen donning this jacket in a river near you soon.
I don't have problem with the price, but it'd better include a pretty amazing warranty – the sort that if anything goes wrong, for at least a couple of years, it's fixed without quibble! And there really should be an ability to get it repaired beyond then. Otherwise, I agree, it's just rather exclusive/ poor value for money. Damn good-looking though...
A > We have a guarantee of 2 years for defects in materials or manufacture. Good point about the repair, even though we suppose that reparing a jacket is much easier than repairing a saddle or a bag, therefore sending it back to us if you break it could be more expensive than repairing it yourself.
Bike Snob NYC seems to like your jacket quite well. If I had $1000, I'd be all over it, seems a very lovely garment. http://bikesnobnyc.blogspot.com/
Well, there IS free shipping.
Wow........One day.....one day......
To Andrew and Brooks England, The price for the jacket is appropriate. Average price for a saddle is anywhere between $30 and $50. Brooks is 4 times that price: $120 to $200. Average price for a technical and well-constructed winter cycling outer-garment is $300. Apply the same 4x the average and you're in the Brooks MK1 ballpark. I'm broke, very much the 99%, but I'll save up for the items of quality I want. Thanks for reading, R.
Is it possible to get cheaper prizes up to factory. I wish a jacket for my wife and myself !
A stylish, and no doubt long-lasting jacket .But it possible to create one with those qualities for far less than £850. Most people's bicycles cost less than that!
Is this jacket only available in cinnamon . I saw that the tailor had a blue . Will this also come on sale . Thank you for answering.
A> This jacket is also available in grey.
Unbelievable! I have no doubts as to the quality of materials and construction and first glance makes me want one, but for $1000! We're in a recession, even Rapha & ASSOS don't price out their customers to this extent. Cycling is an inclusive sport and pastime, this is just horribly exclusive. I have every certainty that I'll never see this jacket being worn by a cyclist around Brooks and my home town of Birmingham/Smethwick and I'm even more sure that I'll never see a Brooks employee wearing this (other than the MD obviously) Keep up the good work Brooks but don't lose sight of where you came from or your customer base - heritage doesn't have to mean extortionate
The Criterion Cycling Jacket looks great however I echo the comments about the price There are already traditional cycling jackets on the market made from Ventile such as the Hilltrek Cycling Jacket which is modelled on the Betram Dudley Greenspot Nomad Jacket at a much lower price.
Would be very nice to have a sizing chart Already asked throug Greg from the US but this is very important
A >This will be available very soon!
Saw this jacket in Monocle magazine - thought i'd check it out - I work as a consultant in oil business and have a good income but 1000 euros for a jacket to wear on my bike - I really can't see you will sell many of these - i always tend to get quite grimey when i'm out on my bike - think i'll stick with my Clerk & Teller Tweed fleece and Rapha waxed cap for my sartorial bicycling needs - shame really - Good Luck with it - Your Saddles are second to none but I think you have stepped over the mark with this
It looks like a very nice jacket, but (approx) $1,000? Honestly? You've undoubtedly heard of the 1%/99% split in the United States. Now this may not be the kind of clothing limited to the 1%, but certainly no more than 5% of the people I know (if that) could afford a jacket like this. Cycling shouldn't be a sport restricted to the stratospheric classes, and I tend to think likewise with regard to its accessories.
A> We agree. But we are starting with the 1% in order to finance development for the 5% in order to finance development for the 10%, etc.
Do you have a sizing chart for the Gents Cycling Jacket?
A> We are working on this and will release this shortly!
